“Yes, Lord, walking in the way of Your Truth,
we wait eagerly for You,
for Your name and Your renown
are the desire of our souls.”
Isaiah 26:8

Just in case some of you don’t know, Passion is coming down to KL! I’m quite excited, though I’d imagined I would’ve been more excited than this a few months back. Anyhoo.. am trying really hard to apply for leave for that day. We’ll see how things work out. Sigh.

Please be praying for this event… Pray He will use this time mightily to display His glory and renown in the hearts of the young people of KL – that lives will be changed and souls saved.

Do try to make it for the event. I’ve been told that tickets are already sold out (although I’m a little bit skeptical of it.. but then again, we’ll see on that day). For more info on how to buy passes for the concert, please visit our facebook group.

Jonah

DSC00240The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.”

But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD.

Then the LORD sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up. 5 All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship.
But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep. The captain went to him and said, “How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us, and we will not perish.”

Then the sailors said to each other, “Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity.” They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah.

So they asked him, “Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?”

–Jonah 1:1-8

************************************************

There’s a term known among the Medical posting housemen at HKL for a person who’s cursed with overwhelming hospital admissions to handle on an on-call night… every single time he/she is on duty.

Jonah.

An adjective to describe that unfortunate doctor, and well, not many would prefer to be his/her on-call partners for the night. Having endless hospital admissions for the entire night is really something one wouldn’t want… it eats into the precious ’sleep time’.

Thankfully I’m not that much of a Jonah… although there was a night I only managed about half an hour to an hour’s worth of sleep. Other than that, my other call nights have been pretty okay. (Thankfully!)

….

On a side note, I’ve just been told yesterday that I’m being transferred to Ward 21 and 28 for the next two weeks. Just one houseman in charge of these two wards. Apparently, they’re first or second class wards, I’m not too sure which, or could be both, but if you think I’m looking forward to it… I’m not. Based on these reasons:

1. Patients who are admitted to first/second class wards requested to be there. That means, they think they’re some big shot who deserves extra better treatment than other ‘commoners’ in third class.

2. They’re very fussy people. I’ve met a few already who had to wait while being admitted in third class for an empty bed in their upgraded class.

3. I’m the ONLY houseman in charge of these two wards…. that means  twice as much work, twice as long a ward round. Ugh. Thank goodness it’s only for two weeks!

4. Therefore, I don’t get weekends off. I have to work Saturdays AND Sundays. That means, I will have to apply for leave on August 3. Whee.

One kind staff nurse whom I was lamenting to said to look at the brighter side.. perhaps this would be good training ground prior to working in the private sector as patients there are just as fussy with the threats of suits and things like that.

Yikes, I’m really not looking forward to this.
