Do you believe in fate?
Fate; Noun: 1. The supposed force, principle, or power that predetermines events, 2. the inevitable events predestined by this force.
Many would define fate as like the good ol song Que sera sera…whatever will be, will be, as like many things and events happening which cannot be avoided due to some natural process. When things happen, we just shrug our shoulders and say.. "oh well, it’s fate". Makes it look so uncontrolled isn’t it? Like a giant rubber ball bouncing off the walls and wherever it hits, it’s unavoidable and it’s "fated" to hit where it did.
Look at the definition of fate once again.. "the supposed force, principle or power". Something/Someone determines fate.. and I know who it is! He is the all powerful God, creator of the heavens and the earth, not limited by time or space. And He knows our future, He knows our fate…things happen the way it did, is because He allowed it to be so – He controls it. Brings forth the feeling of security isn’t it? That Someone knows and plans our future.. and that our future doesnt happen by chance or coincidence. 🙂
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
So next time when we ask "What in the world am I doing here?", "Why am I doing all these?", "How did I meet such a person?" (Questions which I so often ask since starting clinical school)… well, it’s fate – a fate determined by God alone.
